I have the Carolyn Meggitt (I think) which is very good and accessible, and organised by age.

Also look at the EYFS.

Mary D Sheridan from birth to 5,has all the areas of develoment, organised into PILES/PISCES from what I remember?

I have that one and the Carolyn Meggit

Dr Miriam Stoppard along with a few others..

check your local library for what they have in stock

Child development an illustrated guide is a great book to use for quotes. Goes though what children should be able to do at each age. The books really nicely broken down and easy to use.
