Title: Temp job cancelled

Hi all,

I was due to work for a family who were coming over from the USA starting yesterday in London.  However they cancelled on Thursday due to the terrorist attacks.  As it was such short notice, I emailed them saying it was standard practice to be paid for the days I would have worked (only five) and that I had the opportunity of other jobs but was committed to them.  I've not heard a peep since.

In their cancellation email, they did say they would reimburse me for any expense that I've already incurred and that they were sorry for the inconvenience.  Of course I understand that they don't want to bring the child over during these unsettled times but would have thought they would have acknowledged my email.

Any thoughts?  Have I rocked the boat by asking to be paid?  How long should I wait before I send another email and if I'd o that, how on earth do I word it??
